Solutions Not Resolutions!

Welcome 2018, welcome New Year Resolutions to lose weight, go tothe gym more often, get healthy, drink less wine, walk more or some other random act of self- improvement or nicety!

Here’s the thing, by June 2018 60% of well intentioned resolution makers will have either failed or given up! Why? Because they didn’t have the know how or set unrealistic goals based upon their current lifestyle habits!

Let’s have a peek at how we can achieve those resolutions with REAL Lifestyle Solutions rather than another year of failed wellness aspirations!

  1. SET REALISTIC GOALS

We have heard it all before, I’m going to lose weight, give up smoking, give up drinking etc yet there is NO timeframes or steps in place to ensure we can work towards these goals.

When we set goals, we must firstly ensure they resonate with our current lifestyle to ensure it is a possible solution e.g. I’m going to get a 6 pack, yet if eating a diet of chicken and broccoli isn’t possible or the motivation isn’t strong enough then we may change the goal to lose body fat and feel healthier.

We also have to look at time frames and ensure that our goals are realistic and that we put the appropriate posts in place to keep us on track! Imagine if an Olympic Athlete was to compete in 2020 TOKYO Olympics yet didn’t do any preparation until December 2019! We must ensure we put smaller goal posts in place to ensure we are on track and working towards our overall objective!

  1. PLAN, PLAN, PLAN

Again, the old saying “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail”! We do it in our working lives yet when it comes to our health we forgo the planning option or don’t prioritise until we get ill! We @Global Lip Service use the Saint Belford’s 2018 CURATOR to ensure all our training sessions are documented at the beginning of each week and prioritised as much as a work meeting or school lunches! Some of the best advice ever received was to write a To Do List at the beginning of each week and with the crossing out of each workout or each meal planned and delivered, is satisfaction knowing our goals are being achieved!

  1. DON’T GO TO BIG TOO SOON

Start with the small habits that will create BIG Lifestyle Changes! As the New Year Starts, the motivation to kick BIG goals does too! We see the surge of gym memberships, yet by April the number of people in the gym has halved! Why? Because we go to the gym 7 times in the first week, can’t walk in the second and give up in the third!

By April the “real” gym goers are left, those that understand it is a lifestyle solution NOT a quick fix and train smarter not harder! The last 10 years have given rise to different types of exercise solutions so if you hate the gym, try a smaller boutique studio, outdoors or a cycling studio like Infinite Cycle Studio where the classes are more like a dance class than a coordinated aerobics class!

In this case sweat the small stuff and it will help create the Big stuff long term!

  1. IF YOU DON’T KNOW, SEEK HELP!

Outsource has been the buzz word of the 2000’s! We outsource Tax accountants, Web Designers, Hair & Beauty Experts, Cleaners and now Wellness Professionals! WHY? Because they are so passionate about what they do they research, educate and breathe the wellness stuff! If you were type “fat-loss” tips into Google there is an overwhelming amount of information that pops up, yet what is fact from fiction is any consumers guess! A great wellness professional is about to easily decipher this information and adapt it the individual’s current lifestyle and personal make-up! Global Lip Service is a Wellness Directory of the Leading Wellness Professionals in Sydney that can help you achieve your 2018 wellness goals!

  1. ONLINE SOLUTIONS FOR THE TIME POOR OR TRAVELLING FOLK

The average time spent travelling to and from work in Sydney is 3 hours and 20% of the workforce travel interstate regularly! This can disrupt exercise or nutritional habits, yet a few organisations have adapted their delivery to match these “disruptions”!

Varlah is the Netflix of exercise programs, regardless of where you are (probably not best done on the 8.30am train from Chatswood) you can create a custom program and stream it live so there is no excuse whilst in Melbourne on business or home with kids on school holidays!

For nutritional solutions, Hello Fresh delivers fresh ingredients, recipe cards with portion control toyour front door so there is no need to enter the dreaded supermarket on the way home.

Alternatively, organisations like My Muscle Chef, NuMeals and Youfoodz take all the hard work, meal preparation and guess work out of nutrition! They provide freshly cooked meals that are portioned controlled and delivered to your door!
